Leaving a door open through summer usually means flies and mozzies drift in with the breeze. This screen curtain hangs across the opening and lets you walk straight through it: the mesh parts as you pass, then the magnets set along the centre seam draw the two halves back together behind you.

Because there is no latch to undo and nothing to hold open, it stays practical when your arms are full of shopping, and it copes with kids and pets going in and out all afternoon.

What it does

• Self-closing centre seam. Magnets spaced down the opening bring the panels back together after each pass.
• No drilling. The curtain mounts on hook-and-loop tape, so it goes up in a few minutes and suits rentals.
• Soft around kids and pets. Flexible polyester mesh, with no rigid frame and no sharp edges to catch on.
• Range of openings. Five widths from 80 cm to 120 cm, all 210 cm high, covering hinged doors, sliding doors, and caravan or camper entries.
• Airflow stays. The open weave lets air move through the doorway while the mesh holds its position.
• No sprays. A physical barrier rather than a chemical one, so there is nothing to reapply.

Fitting it

1. Wipe the door frame down and let it dry so the tape bonds properly.
2. Run the hook-and-loop tape around the frame.
3. Press the mesh onto the tape, working from the top down.
4. Add the metal pins wherever you want extra hold.
